Chopta Tungnath Trek

Overview​

Deoriatal is situated  in Sari Village near Chopta Tungnath in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The Deoria Tal Trek starts from the village of Sari, Sari  is the base for Deoria Tal trek.  It’s a popular trekking destination known for its stunning views of the surrounding mountains and reflection of Chaukhamba peak in the clear waters of the lake. Here’s some information to help you plan your trek:

Trek Itinerary​

Day- 1

Rishikesh to Sari (200km)

Where you start in Rishikesh depends on how you're traveling. If it's a tour, they might pick you up from your hotel. If you're using a bus or car, you'd start from wherever you are staying.

Day- 2

Sari to Deoriatal & Back

Trek from Sari to Deoria Tal, a beautiful lake. It's about 3 kilometers and might take 1.5 to 2 hours. You'll see nice views on the way. When you reach Deoria Tal, take your time to enjoy the lake and the mountains around it.

Back to Sari
After spending time at the lake, walk back to Sari using the same path.It'll take about the same time to return. and Stay in Sari,

Day- 3

Sari to Chopta Tungnath
(optional)

Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world, and the trek starts from Sari. The distance is around 4 kilometers, and it takes approximately 3-4 hours to reach Tungnath, depending on your pace. The trail is scenic, passing through forests and meadows.If you're up for it, you can extend your trek from Tungnath to Chandrashila, a nearby peak known for its stunning views. It's an additional 1-kilometer trek, and back to stay in Sari

Day- 4

Rohini Bugyal to Chopta

Rohini Bugyal to Chopta (6-7 km) – This scenic route takes about 3-4 hours and passes through dense oak and rhododendron forests. There are some open spaces here that offer spectacular views of the Chaukhamba and Kedarnath mountains. The route gently ascends and descends from the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary to end in the peaceful meadows of Chopta, known as the "Mini Switzerland of India".

Day- 5

After Submit Back to Sari

Start early in the morning to hike to Tungnath and Chandrashila (4Km - 5Km) to see the beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas. After enjoying the view at the top, walk back down to Chopta, have breakfast, and then head back to Sari village. The way back goes through forests and fields and takes about 5–6 hours. It’s a great way to finish the trek with nice mountain views and a calm walk back to where you started.

Day- 6

Sari to Rishikes

After finishing the Rohini Bugyal trek and getting back to Sari village, start your trip back to Rishikesh. The drive takes about 7–8 hours along beautiful mountain roads, going through nice villages, forests, and valleys. Enjoy the changing views as you go down from the Himalayas to the Ganga River in Rishikesh — the calm end to your unforgettable trek.

  1. Physical Fitness: Ensure you are in good physical condition by engaging in regular cardio exercises, strength training, and flexibility workouts at least a month before the trek.
